I figured this would be a fun place for the kids, since our cabin, the Munchin' Moose, had a loft for the kids and a queen sized bed for Chretien and I downstairs. I will say the owner, Kathy, was so kind and helpful. She gave us so much information via email when I booked the cabin last September and also while we were in Talkeetna. We paid $194 for one night at the cabin.
The cabin was very homey and just right for us.
We settled in and then set out to find some dinner.
We drove to the main street of Talkeetna and of course visited Nagley's General Store first.
While we didn't get to see Mayor Stubbs (may he rest in peace 😔), we did have fun poking around the store for a bit.
After Nagley's, we walked up and down the street, just taking in the sites.
Getting ready for the July 4 celebration tomorrow, I guess.
We sat outside, which was nice. While we were waiting for our food, we goofed around for the camera.
I think we all pretty much had some sort of burger and we all enjoyed them. I had a beer and Earnest had a root beer float as well. The total bill here was $90, including tip.
How can you argue with the above sentiment?
So we bought some happiness for $5 apiece at Shirley's Northern Lights Ice Cream Shop, but the treats were a decent size, and included waffle cones. I was feeling full from the beer and passed, and Earnest was still nursing his root beer float.
By then, it was after 9PM and we were still adjusting to the time change, so we headed back to the cabin.
These were right along the road on the way back to the cabin. We were hoping to find moose, but no luck.
Your blog is proving extremely helpful - we found it first last year and save it to refer to again. We are in the early stages of planning a trip to Alaska in the summer of 2020 - we are a bigger group - there will be 12 of us all total - myself, my son and his wife and 4 kids and my daughter and her husband and their 3 kids. But, so much of the things you did appeal to us. Thank you for taking the time to post all of these details!
